Book a Fishing Trip
More than 1500 fish-bearing lakes
The calm water ripples a moment as your
perfect cast lays gently on its surface. The sun, low at your back, casts a
long shadow towards where your fly dangles, enticing.
Suddenly your rod nods gently towards fly . .
. once . . . twice. A sharp pull with a steady hand and the cool water explodes
in a flash of silver. You have hooked your first wild Rainbow of the day.
The many lakes that surround Vanderhoof were
largely left behind in the wake of receding glaciers at the end of the last ice
age. You will find them the site of some of the greatest fishing available.
Species
Bountiful Rainbow (1-9 lb), and Eastern Brook
Trout (1-6 lb), make fishing exciting and rewarding whether you catch to eat or
release.

Where the fish are
We pride ourselves on knowing where the fish
are and what they're biting on. We keep our ear to the ground and our rods in
the water so we know on a week-to-week basis who's caught what and where.
We've fished many of the lakes around
Vanderhoof and have selected twenty favourites from the more than 1500 to
choose from. Let us know what you would like to fish for and we'll offer a
selection of places where we can make your trip a productive one.
Getting to the lake
Wing & Trout Outfitters can provide trucks
and trailers to haul boats and equipment.
What is included
Wing & Trout Outfitters will provide
Boats. If you choose we can also provide life jackets, float tubes, pontoon
boats and fishing gear.
What you need to bring
Fishermen need two rods with floating and
sinking lines; flies should predominantly be wooley buggers-green, maroon or
black as well as leeches and dragon flies. This can be discussed at the time of
booking as recommendation vary with the time of season.
Before we can confirm your trip there's a few
things you need to know
Prime fishing period
To book your fishing trip first pick your
dates. The best fishing is from May 1 to October 15. Brook Trout are
best from September 1 to October 15.
When you have a date in mind you can either
give us a call at: 250-570-2520 or Click
Here to send an email message. Let us know when you and your party
would like to join us and how many individuals in total.
A personal experience
We prefer to keep the experience personal so
we fish in parties of four, with one guide. If your party contains less than
four we are happy to match you up with other like-minded individuals.
Licences and regulations
All fishermen must possess a valid BC Fishing
Licence and have a clear understanding of the current Fishing Regulations. BC
Fishing Licences are available across the province in Government Agent offices
as well as numerous retail outlets.
We will make arrangements for non-resident
licences and will get the necessary information at booking time. Residents
should make their own arrangements for licencing.
